New Jersey authorities have initiated an investigation into a murder-suicide that happened on Saturday, leaving two men dead and the injury of a woman.
The Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force of the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office is leading the investigation, as was announced by authorities on Sunday.
Newark police quickly arrived at the scene of a reported shooting at approximately 11:30 pm on Saturday, June 10. The officers found 33-year-old Isaiah Cobb at the location with evident gunshot injuries. Cobb was officially declared dead at the scene at 11:45 pm.
Terrance Carroll, 51, was also found at the scene, having suffered an apparent gunshot wound. He was swiftly transported to University Hospital for medical treatment. However, Carroll’s injuries turned out to be fatal and he was pronounced dead at 12:13 am on Sunday.
An unidentified female victim was also injured in the incident and is currently undergoing medical evaluation at a nearby hospital.
According to law enforcement sources, Carroll is suspected of shooting Cobb, who was allegedly having an affair with Carroll’s wife. The source detailed that Carroll had parked his vehicle across the street from Cobb’s residence, and waited inside his car all night. He later shot Cobb in the head while the latter was seated in his car. Carroll then reportedly returned to his home, assaulted his wife, and subsequently shot himself.
Authorities have yet to disclose the identity of Carroll’s wife or confirm whether the couple was separated.
The investigation is still active and authorities are appealing to anyone with additional information about the shooting to step forward.
