A 23-year-old woman died on Saturday evening following a fall from a structure in lower Manhattan, as reported by the New York Police Department.
Upon receiving a distress call at approximately 5:11 pm on Saturday, June 3, related to an unconscious woman who had plummeted from a building located at 39 Walker Street in the Tribeca neighborhood, authorities arrived at the scene. The victim was rushed to Bellevue Hospital in a critical state, where she was later declared dead, confirmed by police officials.
Details suggested the woman, whose identity has not been made public, exhibited erratic behavior prior to her fall from the fourth-floor window. While on a visit to New York City, she went into the Bortolami art gallery, which occupies the ground and first floors of the building in Tribeca.
Instead of staying in the gallery, she ventured to the fourth floor, where she abruptly ejected herself from a window, plunging into the backyard. A witness said that the woman’s behavior was strange, including actions like ripping the blinds off, forcefully pushing open the window, and then jumping.
The series of events leading up to this incident and the reasons behind her fatal fall are not known. A considerable number of law enforcement, firefighting, and emergency medical services personnel were observed at the location of the incident.
Typically, Saturdays draw a larger crowd to the gallery, where visitors are permitted to navigate freely between the first two floors through an open passageway. However, access to the fourth floor, where there are apartments valued at $2.5 million, is typically off-limits.
A local resident voiced their anguish over the occurrence, stating that they had a restless night, continually haunted by the thought of someone plunging from the building.
