In an incident at a dog park, Lola, a miniature dachshund, and her owner, a soon to be bride, Isabelle Payne, almost died when they were viciously attacked by a large bull terrier.
Payne, her fiancé Jacob Thirkettle, and their pet Lola were enjoying their day at the off-leash park in Australia when the bull terrier attacked. Both Payne and Lola suffered considerable injuries during the incident, with Payne receiving bruises, scratches, and bites while she valiantly attempted to save Lola.
As their wedding approaches, Thirkettle launched a GoFundMe page to cover Lola’s veterinary costs.
Thirkettle expressed gratitude for those who stepped up to help during the ordeal, crucial to Lola’s survival. After the incident, Lola was immediately rushed to the vet for surgery to repair the cuts on her back and near her ribcage. Although the surgery was successful, Lola’s journey towards recovery continues, necessitating ongoing veterinary care.
Generous Australians helped the couple’s GoFundMe campaign surpass its original goal of $2,000 by an extra $520. Overwhelmed by the incredible support, Payne and Thirkettle offered heartfelt thanks for the donations and encouraging messages they received. They also gave an update on Lola’s recovery through an Instagram video.
