Last week, law enforcement agencies in both Florida and Texas were startled by disconcerting discoveries of suitcases holding human remains.
On the afternoon of Friday, July 21, a call led the local police to a suspicious suitcase in the Intracoastal Waterway in Delray Beach, Florida. Inside, they discovered dismembered human remains. Two additional suitcases, also found nearby, contained similar gruesome contents.
Authorities believe the remains belong to an adult female, and they are currently treating her death as a homicide. However, the investigation is still ongoing, and more details are yet to be released.
In a separate event on July 20, the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office in Texas received information about a suspicious object on a private property. A duffel bag found at the scene contained human remains. Sheriff Javier Salazar, in a press conference, said the evidence pointed toward a potential homicide.
Investigators on-site noticed signs of burning. However, given the local practice of burning trash, it’s unclear whether the killing happened there or if the body was transported post-mortem.
The shocking revelations have shaken both communities, and investigations continue to piece together the disturbing events. Identifying the victims and apprehending those responsible remains the prime objective.
