Authorities in Waldorf, Maryland, recently announced that they have charged a man with murder following the death of a woman who was struck by a stolen forklift.
The crime occurred around noon on Sunday, July 2. The Charles County Sheriff’s office responded to a reported burglary and theft at a Lowe’s store located on Crain Highway in Waldorf. A male individual allegedly broke into the store, stole a forklift, drove it through the rear gates and later drove it to the parking lot of a nearby Home Depot on Jefferson Farm Place.
73-year-old Waldorf resident, Gloristine Pinkney, was asleep in her vehicle in the parking lot at the time. The male suspect crashed the stolen forklift into her car, awakening and causing her to flee from the vehicle. Unfortunately, she was pursued and run over by the suspect in the forklift, leading to her death.
Charles County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson, Diane Richardson, conveyed her shock at the unusual occurrence. She shared that the authorities are now piecing together the evidence to ascertain why the suspect committed the crime.
After committing the horrendous act, the suspect stole Pinkney’s car and left the scene. However, the authorities traced vital leads, leading to the identification of 20-year-old Bryce Caleb Timothy Brown, also a resident of Waldorf, as the primary suspect. The victim’s vehicle was later found near Brown’s residence, leading to his arrest that same night.
There are no current indications that Brown and Pinkney had any prior connection. Richardson stated that it appears to have been a random attack.
Currently, Brown faces several charges, including theft, first- and second-degree murder, assault, among other related offenses. He is being held at the Charles County Detention Center without bond as he awaits further legal proceedings.
