A mother of four was fatally shot by a cashier at a gas station convenience store in Las Vegas, reportedly over a stolen salad.
Per police reports, the deceased, Mallory Angel Armijo, 35, was allegedly killed by a store clerk at a 7-Eleven around the early morning hours of Friday, June 23.
Armijo’s sister, Rachel Wright, claimed that the unfortunate confrontation that resulted in the shooting was a consequence of a dispute over a salad that Armijo had taken without paying. According to Wright, Armijo took the salad to feed her hungry girlfriend as they were unable to afford it. This led to a verbal spat with the cashier which later turned into a physical confrontation outside the store.
Wright stated that during the brawl, the cashier tried to forcibly take Armijo’s purse, causing her to tumble to the ground. A concerned onlooker intervened, asking the cashier to release Armijo. Tragically, as Armijo was attempting to leave the scene, she was shot three times in the back and was subsequently declared dead at Sunrise Hospital.
While Wright conceded that it was wrong for her sister to steal the salad, she stressed that her sister did not deserve to be killed. She painted a picture of Armijo as a devoted mother of four and a person with a kind soul, labelling the incident a pointless act of violence.
Moreover, Wright alleged that the cashier, who is yet to be publicly identified, had a criminal record including past incidents such as throwing hot water on an individual and engaging in a physical fight in a parking area. In spite of previous acts of violence, the cashier was still employed at the store at the time of the fatal incident.
