During a severe storm on Monday, August 7, high winds caused a tree to uproot and tragically fall on a 15-year-old boy in South Carolina, leading to his untimely death.
Evan Kinley, known for his dedication as a high school football player at T.L. Hanna High School and his involvement in the junior fire program at Broadway Fire Department, was visiting his grandparents’ residence in Anderson at the time.
Around 5 pm, as he was nearing the garage after exiting his car, the tree fell on him, killing him instantly. The Anderson County Coroner’s Office confirmed his death shortly after the incident.
The Broadway Fire Department, where Kinley volunteered, remembered him fondly, highlighting his potential and describing him as “a great kid.”
Coach Jason Tone of T.L. Hanna High School spoke of Kinley’s commitment and enthusiasm on the football field.
The Anderson Five school district extended their condolences to the Kinley family, emphasizing the difficulty of such a loss.
Evan’s father, Chris Kinley, expressed the profound void his son’s passing would leave in their lives. Known as an “avid outdoorsman” who cherished his family, friends, and faith, Evan’s life, though short, left a lasting impact on many.
The community is coming together to remember and celebrate Evan’s life. A funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, August 12, to honor his memory.
