A six-year-old boy was rushed to the hospital with traumatic injuries after falling from a rollercoaster ride in Kissimmee, Florida on Thursday, August 3.
Upon receiving the emergency call, first responders found the boy trapped under part of the rollercoaster, elevated around 20 feet. The Galaxy Spin, known for its dynamic movements, has specific height requirements detailed on its website. One witness saw the child standing on the roller coaster, but it is not known yet how he fell.
Following the incident, the child was transported to Arnold Palmer Hospital. The Florida Department of Agriculture is now overseeing an official investigation into the matter.
The park has temporarily halted operations of the Galaxy Spin for a comprehensive review, although they have stated that the ride had recently been inspected and met all safety standards.
This incident mirrors a tragedy from last year when Tyre Sampson, 14, fell from the Free Fall ride at ICON Park in Orlando. Investigations into that event revealed safety protocol breaches, leading to the ride’s removal.
Given these events, there’s a growing call for enhanced safety measures and oversight in the amusement park sector.
