Prominent British stage actor, Shiv Grewal, 60, shared his perceived extraordinary encounter with the afterlife after a miraculous revival from cardiac arrest in 2013.
Grewal’s heart ceased functioning following lunch with his wife, Alison, near their southeast London home on February 9.
During his seven-minute brush with death, Grewal felt a disconnect from his physical body and a profound sense of emotion and sensation in a void-like state.
Describing his journey, Grewal recounted sensations of weightlessness, akin to swimming through water, even witnessing celestial scenes such as traveling above the moon amidst meteorites. He sensed alternate lives and reincarnations being presented to him, but he firmly expressed a desire to return to his current life with his spouse.
Quick action by his wife, who summoned an ambulance, eventually led to Grewal’s revival. Medical intervention included surgery to insert a stent into a clogged main artery and a subsequent induced coma for a month due to cerebral hypoxia resulting in epilepsy.
The near-death experience catalyzed Grewal’s profound transformation in his perception of life. Coping through art, he created an exhibition titled “Reboot” at London’s Karma Sanctum Soho Hotel. The exhibition, on display until September 24, showcases Grewal’s artistic interpretations of his remarkable encounter with death. His art captures the vivid details of his journey, allowing viewers to glimpse his perspective on the realms beyond.
Grewal’s view about life has been deeply affected by his encounter with mortality.
He now holds a heightened appreciation for existence and underscores the significance of kindness for human evolution. Through his art and his own journey, Grewal imparts the enduring message of embracing life with newfound vigor and compassion.
