A 23-year-old KFC employee is in custody following a shooting incident at a Kentucky Fried Chicken outlet in Savannah, Georgia.
The incident occurred on August 10, when Sherman Hendrix is said to have shot a woman in the KFC parking area on W. Gwinnett Street, during the busy lunchtime period around 12:30 pm.
Medical services were alerted and the woman, who has not been identified, was moved to a local health institution due to her critical injuries from the gunshot. The latest update on her health condition remains unconfirmed as of Friday.
In a subsequent press briefing, Savannah Police Chief Lenny Gunther noted that the event was not random, hinting at a possible known relationship between Hendrix and the victim. However, in-depth specifics are still under investigation.
Following the episode, Hendrix was taken under police custody. He has been charged with aggravated assault and remains in the Chatham County Jail, denied bond. Further details about the incident’s motive are being pursued.
