In a video, Dennis “D.J.” Hernandez, the brother of the late football star and convicted murderer Aaron Hernandez, was captured shouting at Connecticut police to shoot him.
The video, sourced from Fox 61, demonstrates Hernandez’s confrontation with the police during his arrest on suspicion of planning shootings at two academic institutions. The event took place on July 19, outside Hernandez’s Bristol residence. Ignoring orders to stand down, Hernandez dared the police to shoot him. The standoff ended when an officer immobilized him with a stun gun.
The arrest followed several attempts to persuade Hernandez to surrender peacefully. Instead, he threatened retaliation, claiming he was armed and prepared to fire at any officer approaching him. The accusations against Hernandez involve planning attacks on Brown University and the University of Connecticut, based on reports from an individual believed to be his ex-girlfriend.
According to the witness, Hernandez borrowed her vehicle under the pretext of attending a court hearing. However, he allegedly used the opportunity to visit the campuses and familiarize himself with their layouts. The arrest coincided with Hernandez making explicit threats on social media, specifically targeting the University of Connecticut, his alma mater.
Hernandez now faces charges of second-degree breach of peace and physical threats, held under a $250,000 bond. His arrest record for the current year includes prior charges of leading a police chase, launching a threat-laden package at ESPN’s Bristol outpost, and failure to appear at a court hearing.
