On Tuesday, August 7, a 25-year-old man lost his life in an attempt to escape the aftermath of a car collision, culminating in a fatal fall from the Manhattan Bridge.
The incident left authorities and witnesses stunned.
Police reported that the man was involved in a two-car collision on the lower level of the Manhattan Bridge around 1:45 am. He then fled the scene on foot before police could respond. He subsequently fell from an elevated section of the bridge overlooking the roadway below.
A passerby made a discovery soon after – the man’s body lay motionless at the intersection of Henry and Forsyth streets on the Lower East Side.
Responding promptly, authorities transported the victim to New York-Presbyterian Lower Manhattan Hospital. Despite their efforts, medical professionals declared him dead upon arrival.
As of now, the young man’s identity remains undisclosed, adding another layer of mystery to the incident. The circumstances leading to his decision to flee and the ensuing fatal fall are under investigation.
