A distressing event unfolded at the Union County West End Fair in Laurelton, Pennsylvania, on August 11.
Brandy Horner, 33, suffered fatal injuries from an unexpected accident during a tractor-pull event at around 8:30 p.m.
Horner was struck in the neck by a piece of a dislodged exhaust wheel from a tractor. Despite immediate medical attention on-site and swift transportation to Evangelical Community Hospital in Lewisburg, she succumbed to her injuries in less than an hour, as confirmed by Union County Coroner Dominick Adamo.
Dennis Boop, overseeing the fair as its president, revealed the absence of safety barriers around the accident area, labeling the incident as unforeseen. The Pennsylvania State Police’s investigation determined a machinery malfunction, assuring no criminal activity was involved.
Remembered fondly in her obituary for her dedication to her family, Horner was also known for her significant contribution to The Learning Lamp preschool program in Richland, championing early education.
Following this tragic event, fair activities on the pulling track were halted for the day, though other events continued as planned.
