Former NFL player Hugh Douglas is grieving the loss of his son and his son’s college roommate following a car crash in Georgia.
The fatal incident happened in East Point, located southwest of Atlanta. The two 20-year-old students faced a tragic end after their vehicle hit utility poles and toppled over.
Information from the scene indicates that the crash ensued when their car, driven by Christion Files Jr., tried to overtake another at an elevated speed, causing him to lose control and subsequently strike two utility poles.
The event took place at around 5 pm, Monday, September 4.
Using social media as a medium, Hugh Douglas Sr. has shared his feelings of loss, posting older images and messages dedicated to his son, Hugh Douglas Jr.
Both young men were active and committed students at Morehouse College. Hugh Douglas Jr. was pursuing business administration with a finance specialization, while Files Jr. was leaning towards marketing.
The institution, Morehouse College, lauded Hugh Douglas Jr. for his active participation in multiple business and finance-centric groups.
Christion Files Jr., in his college life, had numerous roles, including being the co-captain of the track and field team, handling media duties for the junior class council, and maintaining membership in the Morehouse Business Association.
After his NFL days, Hugh Douglas Sr. transitioned to radio, hosting a show in Philadelphia. His peers and the broadcasting station have expressed their sympathies over the recent tragic event.
