A pickup truck collided with the back of an Amish buggy, leading to the death of two young children aged one and three.
The incident took place on Wednesday, September 20, at approximately 2:20 pm. Charlene Kring, 26, was driving the pickup truck that struck the buggy from behind. The accident occurred on a county route in Alexandria, New York, situated near the Canadian border, as reported by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
First responders found a challenging situation on site. There were six individuals in the buggy: four children and two adults. All required urgent medical care. Regrettably, the one-year-old could not be saved at the scene, while the three-year-old passed away after being moved to a medical facility.
The remaining four buggy occupants received treatment at nearby hospitals. Kring, the pickup driver, was not injured in the collision. The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office has chosen not to disclose the identities of the young victims given their age. No further details about the crash have been shared.
