A disagreement revolving around McDonald’s sweet and sour dipping sauce took a tragic turn as two teenagers from Waldorf, Maryland, became embroiled in a fatal fight.
The victim, 16-year-old Naima Liggon, was set to commence her studies at Thomas Stone High School but lost her life in the unfortunate incident.
Detective Brendan Jasper of the Metropolitan Police Department explained that the incident unfolded after Liggon and the other 16-year-old girl, along with three companions, attended a party in Washington D.C. Subsequent to the gathering, the group visited a McDonald’s restaurant. An argument over the dipping sauces followed, leading the two teenagers to exit the vehicle. In the confrontation, Liggon was stabbed multiple times in her abdomen and chest.
Liggon was transported to Howard University Hospital by her fellow group members, but her injuries were fatal. The accused tried to escape on foot but was captured by police. A black pocket knife was found in her possession.
Principal Shanif Pearl of Thomas Stone High School expressed her condolences in a letter to parents and staff, mourning the loss just ahead of the new academic year.
While the defense advocated for a 24/7 curfew instead of detention for the accused, the judge ordered placement in a juvenile detention center.
