The FBI is under intense scrutiny following the tragic passing of a 45-year-old disabled veteran during a pre-dawn raid at his residence in Henderson, Tennessee, on August 16th.
Theodore “Teddy” Deschler lost his life within just 15 minutes of the FBI arriving at the house he shared with his mother.
Deschler’s family is demanding answers regarding the reasoning behind the raid and the events leading up to his unfortunate death.
According to the family, the house was subjected to flashbang explosives, tear gas, and gunfire, resulting in broken windows and a damaged yard.
Deschler’s brother, Russell, firmly believes that his brother was not carrying any weapons at the time of the incident. He explained that Teddy was simply trying to escape the tear gas-filled house when he was fatally shot.
Russell further claims that the arrangement of the SWAT agents and the layout of the house made it extremely difficult for them to ascertain whether Deschler was armed or not.
Witnesses, including neighbor Alex Morris, recall hearing loud bangs followed by announcements from the FBI over loudspeakers, instructing everyone inside the house to exit with their hands raised.
Earlier in the year, Deschler had been taken into custody in relation to a gas station stabbing, according to information from the Selmer Police Department. The exact details surrounding the incident, including any charges that may have resulted, remain undisclosed.
The FBI officially stated that the matter is currently being reviewed by their Inspection Division, in accordance with their policy.
The Deschler family is also considering the possibility of pursuing a civil lawsuit against the Bureau.
The investigation into the incident is still ongoing.
