In Brooklyn, New York, an argument about a parking spot on the afternoon of Saturday, September 9, took a perilous turn as it escalated into a shooting incident, resulting in injuries to a man and the death of his girlfriend. The shooting occurred in the parking lot of a Home Depot, situated at the intersection of Willoughby Avenue and Sanford Street, in the Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood.
The individuals involved were Cordel McDuffie, aged 35, and his girlfriend, Imani Sharpless, aged 26. The dispute started when McDuffie, unintentionally obstructing another unidentified individual from reversing their vehicle, sounded his car horn. Subsequently, a verbal exchange began between McDuffie and the other driver.
Upon concluding their visit to the store at approximately 12:15 pm, McDuffie and Sharpless were confronted once again by the same individual who had engaged in the earlier confrontation. This individual then fired shots at the couple before hastily fleeing the scene.
The New York Police Department (NYPD) responded to a 911 call and upon arrival at the scene, officers discovered McDuffie had sustained a gunshot wound to his right knee but was conscious and alert. Sharpless had suffered a gunshot wound to her head and was found unconscious. Both victims were transported to Kings County Hospital. As of the latest update, McDuffie’s condition has stabilized, but Sharpless sadly passed away on Thursday.
