On Monday night, September 25, 2023, cleaning staff at the Philadelphia Airport Marriott discovered a 66-year-old female flight attendant employed by American Airlines dead in her room, with a sock in her mouth.
The incident occurred near the Philadelphia International Airport, a central hub for American Airlines.
On Thursday, September 28, police identified the woman as Diana Ramos.
Ramos was scheduled to check out of her room two days before she was discovered. It remains unclear why her body was not found earlier. Authorities were promptly alerted upon the discovery.
Initial police investigations have yielded several critical findings. There were no apparent signs of forced entry or any indications of a struggle within the room. The absence of evident foul play prompts multiple questions about the circumstances of her death. Additionally, several sealed prescription medication bottles were in the hotel room.
Given the mysterious circumstances, the police labeled the death “suspicious.” An autopsy is underway to determine the exact cause of Ramos’ death, which will significantly guide the direction of the ongoing investigation.
The Homicide Detectives Division has taken the lead in the investigation, meticulously examining all potential aspects of the incident. A particular focus of the investigation will be the reason behind the sock in the flight attendant’s mouth and the implications of the prescription drugs found in her room.
