On Wednesday, August 30, a violent incident took place in Jackson, Mississippi, at approximately 9:30 pm. A 42-year-old male homeowner was fatally shot, and a 10-month-old baby was kidnapped. The events occurred at the crossroads of Jayne Avenue and Willaman Street.

The Jackson police department gave a detailed account, stating that the invasion consisted of three masked men and a woman. The group gained access to the residence by forcibly knocking down the back door. During the invasion, a robbery was committed, and following this, the baby was taken at gunpoint. It was during these moments that one of the male suspects reportedly shot the homeowner.

The female intruder, later identified as Jazmyn Johnson, aged 18, was apprehended at a gas station, where the infant was also located and found to be safe. It was disclosed that Johnson is the biological mother of the infant. The now-deceased man had been in a relationship with Johnson’s mother, who is the grandmother of the baby. She held full custody and was in the house during the tragic incident.

Jazmyn Johnson is now facing a series of charges, such as capital murder, armed robbery, kidnapping, and burglary. She is being held without bail for the capital murder charge, with an additional bond of $1.1 million for the other crimes. As of now, the three male suspects are still at large.

The recent surge in violent episodes in the vicinity has left local residents deeply concerned.
