On Saturday, September 23, a construction worker lost his life while working on the preparations for the forthcoming Formula 1 Las Vegas Grand Prix, set to take place in November.
The incident occurred around 11:30 am at the Bellagio Fountains on the Las Vegas Strip, a renowned landmark in the city.
The worker suffered a serious laceration to his neck. Following the injury, he was transported to a nearby hospital. Despite the intervention, the worker succumbed to his injuries. The specific circumstances leading up to the accident remain unclear.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is investigating the incident. OSHA’s role is to ensure safe working conditions, and they will be looking into whether any workplace violations contributed to this unfortunate event.
Early indications suggest that the worker was involved in the construction of the grandstand for MGM Resorts International source, specifically for VIP race viewing near the iconic Bellagio Fountains.
This grandstand is one of the prime viewing areas for the upcoming 3.8-mile Vegas Grand Prix circuit that will weave its way through downtown Las Vegas.
