A 29-year-old man from Ohio is facing charges after allegedly shooting his pregnant sister, Mercedes Iverson, 30, and her husband, Trea Carter, 31, in a park in Maple Heights, Ohio, near Cleveland. 

According to reports, the couple were in the park for a picnic when Jason Iverson, who had an existing dispute with his sister, arrived, leading to an altercation.

Following this, Mercedes Iverson, Carter, and a 13-year-old boy tried to leave the scene in their car. Jason Iverson is alleged to have taken out a handgun, firing shots at the vehicle. The woman was struck, and the boy sustained a minor injury to his arm. Reports suggest that Carter attempted to flee on foot but was pursued by Iverson and was shot inside a park restroom.

The incident resulted in the deaths of Carter, Mercedes Iverson, and her unborn child. The injured boy was hospitalized but has been released since. 

Jason Iverson has been charged with murder and attempted murder. He was arraigned in court on Wednesday, September 6.
