Three Teens Killed in Shooting

On September 24, 2023, a shooting incident occurred on Saddletrail Road in Columbia, South Carolina, resulting in three casualties

According to reports, Richland County Sheriff’s Department deputies discovered four people with gunshot injuries upon arriving at the scene. Three succumbed to their injuries after being transported to a local hospital.

The victims were identified as Caleb Wise, 16, Dre’von Riley, 16, and Jakobe Fanning, 17, all of whom were Eau Claire High School students. 

A fourth person, a 14-year-old, was injured in the incident but was later released from the hospital after treatment.

Two suspects were apprehended in connection to the crime. Jahkeem Griffin and Karlos Gibson, aged 17, were arrested and charged with three counts of murder, one count of attempted murder, and other related weapons charges. 

Sheriff Leon Lott indicated that the shooting stemmed from an ongoing dispute linked to a burglary that took place a few years prior.

So far in 2023, 17 teenagers have been shot in Columbia, South Carolina.
