On Thursday, September 7, authorities identified the three individuals who lost their lives in a tragic incident at Whitebirch Resort in Breezy Point, Minnesota.

Michael Charles Toner, 59, from Maple Grove, is suspected to have fatally shot Melanie Michele Jansen, 54, and her daughter, Hannah Nicole Parmenter, 29, of Elk River. He then apparently took his own life.

The incident transpired at the timeshare resort, situated approximately 150 miles to the northwest of Minneapolis. The bodies were discovered around 8:50 pm on Tuesday, September 5.

The police were informed about the grim situation after a 911 call from Jansen’s son and his partner. The couple, who were visiting the property, made the call after their knocks went unanswered and a glance through a window revealed a troubling sight.

Examinations conducted on Wednesday, September 6, determined that both women had multiple gunshot injuries. Toner suffered a gunshot wound to the head.

Investigations, as indicated by Crow Wing County Attorney Donald Ryan, are ongoing.
