On Monday, September 18, outside a residence in Chicago, a 30-year-old Black woman named Sierra Jamison, who had recently averted an attempted carjacking, was found strangled.
The accused, Lawrence Curtis Boyle, aged 63, has been arrested in connection to the murder and faces first-degree charges. Boyle was known to both Sierra and her family, and was trusted by them.
The unfortunate event took place shortly before Sierra Jamison was set to be aired on CBS2, speaking on the pressing issue of violence against Black women.
During her interview with Dorothy Tucker from CBS2, Sierra shared her harrowing experience of fending off a carjacker. While she was confronted by an armed assailant, timely intervention from alert passersby ensured that the attack was thwarted. Through her account, Sierra aimed to highlight the challenges and threats specifically faced by Black women.
Professionally, Sierra was a committed phlebotomist and was gearing up to commence her nursing education. She played an instrumental role in caring for her six-year-old autistic son, who had earlier undergone open-heart surgery.
