On Thursday evening, October 19, in Hagerstown, Maryland, a Circuit Court Judge was found fatally shot in the driveway of his home. The incident has led to a statewide search for a person of interest about the fatal shooting.

Judge Andrew Wilkinson, 52, has been serving in Washington County’s 4th Judicial Circuit since January 2020. Recognized for his commitment to the legal profession, he also held the position of an Associate Judge on the Washington County Circuit Court. Before this, he worked as an assistant county attorney and was notably involved in various community activities.

Maryland authorities are searching for 49-year-old Pedro Argote as a prime suspect in the case. Argote is described as 5’7″, 130 lbs, with black hair and brown eyes. He was believed to be driving a silver 2009 Mercedes GL450 with Maryland license plate 4EH0408, which was found on Saturday in a wooded area near Wiliiamsport.

The link between Argote and Judge Wilkinson extends to the courtroom. As per records, Judge Wilkinson had presided over Argote’s divorce case, which was filed in June 2022. The day of the shooting the judge had awarded sole custody of Argote’s four children to his wife and decreed that Argote could have no contact with them.

While the motive behind the shooting remains undisclosed, the sudden and unexpected incident has sent shockwaves throughout the community. The Washington County Sheriff’s Office has earnestly requested the public’s help in locating Argote.

They urge anyone with pertinent information as to his whereabouts to reach out to the police, emphasizing the importance of not approaching Argote, who is considered armed and dangerous, directly.

State Delegate Neil Parrott expressed his shock and dismay on X, labeling the incident as “horrible news.” He further conveyed that the police are actively on the lookout for the perpetrator behind this grim act.

The death of Judge Wilkinson is deeply felt by those who knew him both professionally and personally. An attorney, representing the children in Argote’s divorce case, lauded Judge Wilkinson, highlighting his exceptional qualities as a man, father, husband, and judge.

As the investigation continues, the community hopes for a swift resolution and justice for Judge Wilkinson. Maryland residents are advised to remain vigilant and promptly report any sightings or information related to Pedro Argote to the authorities.
