An Ohio mother and her teenage daughter have been indicted for the death of an infant in Hilliard, Ohio, last month.

On September 20, 2023, the Hilliard Division of Police reported the discovery of an infant inside a vehicle located on the property of Basma Abdul Karim Alkelezli, a 36-year-old resident of Hilliard, and her daughter, Hanan Ahmad Al Jabouli, 19, of Dublin. The two now face multiple charges. These charges encompass murder, child endangerment, and strangulation.

The police were alerted after Al Jabouli called 911, saying her mother was unresponsive. Medics who arrived on the scene found Alkelezli bleeding, deducing the bleeding resulted from childbirth. However, the baby was nowhere to be found, prompting further investigation.

As the investigation progressed, allegations emerged that Al Jabouli may have acted under her mother’s instructions. Court records reveal that Alkelezli allegedly instructed her daughter to dispose of a trash bag containing her newborn son. This bag was later found by authorities in a five-gallon bucket in the trunk of a car on their property.

The vehicle’s owner has yet to be identified. Court records from Franklin County detail that Alkelezli is facing eight charges, including murder, child endangerment, suffocation, and corpse abuse. Al Jabouli’s charges are similar but include additional counts of obstruction of justice and tampering with evidence.
