On Thursday, September 21, on an air journey from London to Nice, France, a 73-year-old woman, previously assumed to be asleep, was found deceased on arrival.
The woman’s motionless state as fellow passengers gathered their suitcases caused concerns. Her lack of response brought the matter to the attention of the flight crew, leading them to call for medical assistance.
Despite the efforts of the medical personnel, the woman could not be resuscitated, and her death was officially confirmed at 10 p.m. Though the cause of the death remained undeclared, a potential mid-air heart attack was assumed.
British Airways, the operator of the flight, confirmed this occurrence and referenced that a customer’s death unfolded during the flight. Death during air travel, although rare, can result from various medical issues. The airline reassured that comprehensive protocols are in place to handle such incidents, aiming to respect the deceased and minimize disruption to fellow passengers.
This isn’t an isolated case. In June, a young British male flying from London to New York succumbed to an asthma attack following the loss of his inhaler, despite crew efforts to save his life.
