Vermont State Police have discovered two bodies in a remote woodland area in Eden, Vermont. The deceased have been identified in autopsies as Jahim Solomon of Pittsfield, Massachusetts and Eric White of Chicopee, Massachusetts. Both Solomon and White were 21 years old.
Solomon and White had been missing since October 15, 2023. The last communication with their families was a few days before this date. Their journey reportedly took them to various places including Burlington, Vermont; Lowell, Massachusetts; Morrisville, Vermont; and Stowe, Vermont. Initially, the Vermont State Police described their disappearance as taking place under “suspicious circumstances.”
During a media briefing on Wednesday afternoon, Major Dan Trudeau, the head of the Vermont State Police’s criminal division, stated, “Right now we’re not able to make any identifications or any assumptions.” He also informed the public that no one has been arrested in relation to this case. Subsequently, the autopsies on Thursday revealed the grim results the victims’ families dreaded hearing.
Major Trudeau added that they are treating the situation as a potential homicide. He also said that their investigations had led them to that particular area. During the search, they found the two deceased men less than a mile apart from each other.
The direction of the investigation has led the police to several potential suspects and people of interest. Most of these individuals are from the northern Vermont area. However, Major Trudeau mentioned that getting a clear account from the people they interviewed has been difficult. “This is the kind of case that involves quite a number of people… It’s been complicated to get a true story or account from many of the people we’ve spoken to,” he said. He added that some people, crucial to the investigation, have been hard to find, with some evading the police or being hard to locate.
