A high school teacher from Norcross, Georgia, 32-year-old Kianna Aiesha Renee Davis, was arrested on November 3, 2023, for her involvement in the death of her two-year-old child in 2020. She faces multiple charges, including malice murder, felony murder, cruelty to children, aggravated assault, and failure to provide medical care.
The incident, which took place between November 15-17, 2020, in Houston County, Georgia, also involves Kiyon Devoy Benton as a co-accused. Despite the indictment of both accused on October 17, 2023, Davis’s arrest occurred only last weekend, with the reasons for the delay remaining unclear.
Court documents reveal that Davis and Benton allegedly inflicted significant physical harm on the child, Karter Ambrose, using an unspecified object. This assault resulted in severe injuries to Karter’s liver, pancreas, intestines, and kidney. Their failure to seek immediate medical attention reportedly exacerbated the child’s condition.
A Houston County judge set a $15,000 bond for Davis, stipulating no contact with Benton and house arrest at her grandfather’s residence. Benton, identified as a friend but not the father of Karter, has not been arrested as per the latest reports.
Davis, a teacher at Seckinger High School in Gwinnett County, had been on leave for approximately two weeks before her arrest. The school’s principal confirmed her employment status. The tragic event has profoundly impacted the Norcross community and the larger Gwinnett County area.
