On Monday, November 6, 2023, a Bronx, New York City resident tragically lost his life while conducting maintenance work inside a cement mixing truck.

Francisco Lumbreras, 46, the victim of the unfortunate incident, was killed when he got entangled in the rotating shaft of the vehicle, according to official reports.

The event unfolded at a construction site located in Hunts Point, Bronx. Police were swiftly summoned to the scene following the incident. Upon their arrival, emergency response teams discovered Lumbreras caught within the cement truck’s machinery. Despite the best efforts of the responders, Lumbreras was declared dead at the location.

This incident, occurring during what was a routine cleaning task, has prompted a thorough investigation by local law enforcement. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is set to launch an inquiry focusing on the workplace conditions and the safety protocols that were in effect when the accident occurred.

Lumbreras was an employee of CNB Contracting. A company spokesperson, however, refrained from commenting on the incident.

The investigation is expected to scrutinize the maintenance procedures for the cement mixing truck, and will determine if there were any breaches in safety regulations or oversight of safety standards. As of now, no legal charges have been filed, and additional details regarding the factors that may have contributed to Lumbreras’s death have not been disclosed by the authorities.
