Oscar-winning actor Jamie Foxx is currently embroiled in a legal battle following accusations of sexual assault dating back to August 2015. 

The plaintiff in the case, identified only as Jane Doe, has accused Foxx of inappropriate and non-consensual physical contact at the Catch NYC rooftop bar and restaurant in Manhattan. 

According to the lawsuit, filed on Wednesday, November 22, 2023, the incident occurred when Foxx, allegedly intoxicated, grabbed the woman’s arm and led her to a secluded area of the rooftop. It is here that Foxx is accused of groping her and making unwelcome advances.

In her legal filing, the plaintiff detailed that Foxx rubbed her breasts under her clothing and made inappropriate remarks. The lawsuit also alleges that Foxx touched her private parts without her consent. The case alleges that a security guard witnessed the incident but did not intervene. 

The plaintiff is also suing Catch Hospitality Group and other related entities.

The lawsuit has been filed under New York’s Adult Survivors Act. This legislation allows for the filing of sexual abuse lawsuits even if the statute of limitations has expired, providing a legal pathway for adult survivors of sexual assault to seek justice.

The plaintiff is seeking compensation for pain, suffering, emotional distress, anxiety, and humiliation. She also alleges that she required medical treatment following the incident.
