In Lorain, Ohio, on November 19, 2023, a devastating scene unfolded as four family members were found deceased in their home, in an incident law enforcement is investigating as a murder-suicide.

The deceased were identified as Tyler Young, 29; his wife Skylar Young, 24; their four-month-old son Bandin Young; and Skylar’s nine-year-old daughter Angel Isaac. The family resided in an apartment on East 9th Street in Lorain, where local police discovered the bodies after being alerted about loose dogs in the neighborhood around 10 a.m. Tyler Young was found with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, alongside a 9mm pistol.

Lieutenant Jacob Morris of the Lorain Police Department stated they are approaching the case as a triple murder-suicide, based on evidence suggesting Tyler Young’s responsibility for the deaths.

Earlier police records indicated that in May, Skylar Young had accused Tyler of physical abuse during her pregnancy. Tyler was arrested, but Skylar later withdrew her accusation, leading to no indictment by a Lorain County grand jury.

Tyler Young’s mental health history, including a diagnosis of paranoid schizophrenia about a decade ago, was also noted. His aunt, Lisa Costello, shared that despite the family’s efforts, Tyler refused medication for his condition. Additionally, police found two more firearms in the residence, apart from the 9mm pistol used in the incident.
