In Gulfport, Mississippi, a woman was found in her home with over 50 stab wounds to her face and body on November 8, 2023. Gulfport police, responding to an urgent call, discovered the victim in a critical state.

Nicholas Leshaun Unger, a 41-year-old male, was identified as the suspect. He was arrested and charged with aggravated assault following the incident. 

The argument between Unger and the victim began outside her residence on the 15000 block of Government Street. Unger then followed the woman into her home, where he grabbed a knife and began the assault, stabbing her multiple times.

During the attack, the victim’s daughter intervened, which allowed her mother a brief moment to escape. She attempted to flee the attack by moving to a rear bedroom. However, Unger managed to gain entry into the room and continued his assault.

Following the incident, the victim was transported to a hospital. She was reported to be in critical but stable condition. 

Unger was taken into custody and remains detained at the Harrison County jail. His bond has been set at $250,000.
