Actor Ryan O’Neal, 82, Dies of Congestive Heart Failure

Ryan O’Neal, an esteemed actor known for his work in “Love Story,” passed away on December 8, 2023, at 82 years old. His death was attributed to congestive heart failure resulting from cardiomyopathy, according to his death certificate.

O’Neal’s career, which spanned numerous decades, saw him rise to fame with his role in the TV series “Peyton Place.” His international recognition grew with the success of “Love Story” in the early 1970s, and he continued to star in popular films like “What’s Up, Doc?” and “Paper Moon.”

Beyond his successful career in acting, O’Neal valiantly fought against various health challenges. He battled chronic myelogenous leukemia, diagnosed in 2001, and stage two prostate cancer in 2012. Despite these health battles, O’Neal maintained his status in the film industry.

Survived by his children, including his daughter, actress Tatum O’Neal, and sons Patrick, Griffin, and Redmond, with the late Farrah Fawcett, O’Neal’s family has shared their mourning and memories of him as a loving father and a respected figure in Hollywood.

O’Neal was interred at Pierce Brothers Westwood Village Memorial Park near UCLA. His burial occurred on December 23, beside his former romantic partner, Farrah Fawcett, who died in 2009 at the age of 62. O’Neal’s grave is near other renowned celebrities like Marilyn Monroe and Natalie Wood.

The death of Ryan O’Neal marks a significant loss in the Hollywood community. His enduring influence in film and his iconic roles have left an indelible mark on audiences worldwide.
