A car accident in Billings, Montana, on the night of December 16, 2023, resulted in four fatalities. The crash, happening just before 2 a.m. in an industrial area, involved a vehicle hitting a large metal pole.
The deceased were identified as Mikaylee Reiter and Zoey Harr, both 14, Weston Lyon, 17, and Storm Skaggs, 18. The Billings Police Department confirmed that two of the teenagers died at the scene, and two others died after receiving critical injuries and being taken to a hospital.
Initial findings from law enforcement suggest that excessive speed, lack of seatbelt use, and potential alcohol consumption contributed to the accident. The vehicle is believed to have deviated from the road, causing the driver to lose control and collide with the pole.
Community members responded by leaving flowers and messages at the site of the accident.
Ryan Pitman, who knew the victims, revealed he had dropped two of the girls at Skaggs’ home earlier that night and was coincidentally involved in another accident later. He was in the hospital at the time of the fatal crash. Pitman, the son of a former county commissioner, spoke about his loss.
The Billings Police Department’s investigation into the incident continues.
