Buffalo Bills linebacker Von Miller turned himself in to police in Glenn Heights, Texas, on November 30, following the issuance of an arrest warrant in connection with an alleged assault on a pregnant woman.
The incident, which took place in Dallas, has garnered significant attention due to Miller’s status in the National Football League (NFL).
Dallas police received a call on November 29 about a verbal altercation at an Uptown Dallas condominium. Subsequent police reports indicate that the dispute between Miller and the six-week pregnant woman escalated into physical assault. The woman reported minor injuries but did not seek hospitalization.
The argument, centering on travel arrangements, allegedly led to Miller shoving the woman, applying pressure on her neck, pulling her hair, and damaging her laptop. The unnamed victim provided the police with a video of the confrontation and text messages related to her pregnancy.
Aged 34 and a native of DeSoto, Texas, Miller presented himself to the Glenn Heights Police Department. He was later transferred to the DeSoto Regional Jail and released upon posting a $5,000 bond.
Miller faces a charge of “Assault of a Pregnant Person,” classified as a third-degree felony in Texas.
Both the Buffalo Bills and the NFL have acknowledged the situation, stating their ongoing efforts to gather further information. The NFL’s strict policy against domestic violence could lead to Miller’s suspension for up to six games, per its regulations.
Miller, renowned for his eight Pro Bowl selections and three first-team All-Pro titles, is a prominent figure in football. He has a collegiate football background from Texas A&M and has contributed to two Super Bowl victories with the Denver Broncos and the Los Angeles Rams, earning the MVP title in Super Bowl 50. Off-field, Miller hosts “The Voncast” on Bleacher Report.
This case has sparked discussions on domestic violence in professional sports, with potential implications for Miller’s NFL career, depending on the investigation’s findings. The Dallas police continue to lead the ongoing investigation.
