A 16-year-old boy tragically died after falling from a balcony on the Royal Caribbean’s Allure of the Seas, while the ship was traveling from Florida to the Bahamas.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday, November 25, 2023. The cruise ship, based at Port Canaveral, Florida, was en route to the Bahamas when the teenager fell from his balcony to a lower deck.
Despite immediate medical assistance, the boy was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. The circumstances leading to his fall are currently under investigation, with details yet to be confirmed.
Royal Caribbean International extended their sympathies to the victim’s family, stating, “We are saddened to learn of the passing of a guest, and our hearts go out to the family.” The company has maintained respect for the family’s privacy in this difficult time.
The Allure of the Seas, one of the world’s largest cruise ships, offers short cruises to the Bahamas. This particular three-night cruise had departed from Port Canaveral on Friday and was scheduled to return on Monday.
Unfortunate incidents on board cruises are not uncommon. In April 2023, a passenger named Warwick Tollemache fell overboard from the Quantum of the Seas cruise ship near Hawaii.
In another incident, in June of 2023, a woman fell overboard from the Mariner of the Seas near the Dominican Republic and was rescued.
On September 2, 2023, a man went overboard from the Wonder of the Seas, the world’s largest cruise ship, south of Cuba.
