Over the weekend of January 13-14, 2024, the Dallas, Texas, area experienced two major road incidents resulting in three fatalities and three injuries.

The Texas Department of Public Safety reported that both incidents involved drivers being struck by other vehicles after exiting their cars following initial accidents.

The first incident occurred on the Dallas North Tollway near Forest Lane at about 2:06 a.m. on January 13.

A 2017 Infinity QX50, driven by 24-year-old Kendrella Baldwin from Dallas, and a 2013 Honda Civic, driven by 28-year-old Nathan Hattox from Addison, were involved in a collision.

After the initial crash, both drivers exited their vehicles and were standing on the roadway when they were struck by a third vehicle, a 2022 BMW 330 driven by 18-year-old Connor Marek Ehinger from Lewisville. Baldwin and Hattox were pronounced deceased by the Methodist Dallas Medical Center staff. Ehinger did not sustain injuries.

The second incident happened on the President George Bush Turnpike near Belt Line Road around 1:13 a.m. on January 14.

A single-vehicle crash left a 2004 Honda Accord, driven by 19-year-old Jasmine Lewis from Arlington, disabled in the southbound lanes. After exiting her car, Lewis was hit by a 2014 BMW X3. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The BMW’s occupants, 28-year-old driver Kiara Frazier from Grand Prairie and 33-year-old passenger Devvyn Eddington from Longview, along with an 18-year-old passenger in Lewis’ car, King Martin, also from Grand Prairie, sustained minor injuries.

The preliminary investigations indicate that in both instances, the victims were outside their vehicles when they were struck by the third vehicle. Both incidents are currently under investigation, and no additional information has been released at this time.
