In a shocking incident in Quiroga, Michoacan, Mexico, a 19-year-old male, who has been named only as Sebastian, has been taken into custody for allegedly beheading his sister, Julieta, aged 26.
On the afternoon of Saturday, December 30, 2023, onlookers reported seeing Sebastian, seemingly inebriated, carrying Julieta’s severed head in the vicinity of a government-operated clinic.
Police were notified by the witnesses and promptly apprehended Sebastian in the vicinity of the clinic without any conflict. A firearm was also seized from the accused at the time of his arrest.
Later, police officials from Michoacan State discovered Julieta’s unclothed body in close proximity to the clinic, near a gas station. Her severed head was found several feet away from her body.
The state prosecutor’s office in Michoacan has taken Sebastian into custody as he is being probed for the alleged murder of his sister.
This horrific act bears a resemblance to another gruesome incident that occurred in San Mateo Atenco, State of Mexico, in October 2022. In that instance, a man named Lev Norman was taken into custody with the severed head of Lucero Yazmin in his backpack. Norman, found drenched in blood and under the influence of narcotics, admitted to the crime and led the police to Yazmin’s body.
Mexico is grappling with a high incidence of murders and femicides, with government statistics revealing an average of 10 women or girls are killed daily by their partners or family members.
As of yet, the police have not released any details regarding the motive behind Julieta’s murder or if there are any additional suspects involved in this case.
No further comments have been provided by the Michoacan state prosecutor’s office on the case. The case is still in its initial stages, and investigations are ongoing to ascertain the complete details of the incident.
