A man from Knoxville, Tennessee, is being charged with second-degree murder in relation to a fatal shooting that allegedly stemmed from a disagreement about dog feces. The local Knoxville Police Department has disclosed these details.
On the evening of December 23, 2023, around 6 p.m., police officers from Knoxville were summoned to a home on East Oldham Avenue.
Upon reaching the location, they found a man who had received a gunshot wound. Despite on-site life-saving efforts by the officers, the man was declared dead due to his injuries.
The suspected shooter, 34-year-old Stefen White, had reportedly engaged in a heated argument with the victim over White’s failure to clean up dog waste in their shared yard. As per the allegations, White drew a handgun during the argument and shot the man in the chest.
Witnesses’ accounts, as noted in the arrest warrant, contradict White’s assertion that the victim struck him in the face before the shooting took place.
White was subsequently arrested and is presently detained at the Roger D. Wilson Detention Facility. The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending an ongoing investigation.
White made his initial court appearance on December 28 and is set to appear again on January 11, 2024. His bond has been fixed at $100,000, and attorney information has yet to be released in jail records.
The Homicide Unit of the Knoxville Police Department is conducting an extensive investigation into the incident. The detectives are working to assemble the sequence of events leading up to the fatal shooting.
