Noted actor Gary Graham, known for his work in “Star Trek” and “Alien Nation,” died at 73 due to a heart attack.
The actor’s demise happened on January 22, 2024, in Spokane, Washington. His wife, Becky Graham, confirmed his passing. The couple had been married for close to 25 years.
Graham, born on June 7, 1950, in Long Beach, California, made a significant mark in the realm of science fiction.
He is best known for playing Ambassador Soval, a Vulcan in “Star Trek: Enterprise.” Graham’s contribution to the “Star Trek” franchise also included guest roles in “Star Trek: Voyager” and two fan films, adding complexity and subtlety to his roles.
In the early stages of his career, Graham appeared in numerous TV shows and films during the 70s and 80s, such as “The Incredible Hulk,” “Starsky and Hutch,” and “Police Woman.”
His career took off in 1989 when he played Detective Matthew Sikes in the TV series “Alien Nation.” He reprised this role in five TV movies from 1994 to 1997, establishing it as a significant part of his legacy.
In the “Alien Nation” series, Graham’s Detective Sikes, a human cop, partnered with an alien detective, George Francisco, played by Eric Pierpoint. The one-season series (1989-1990) cultivated a dedicated fanbase.
Besides “Star Trek” and “Alien Nation,” Graham had a successful career in both TV and film, featuring in films like “Hardcore,” “All the Right Moves,” and “Robot Jox.” In addition to acting, he wrote a book titled “Acting & Other Flying Lessons: A Practical Guide to Film Acting,” published in 2005.
Graham’s body of work has left a lasting impression, entertaining and influencing generations of fans.
He is survived by his wife, Becky, and a daughter, Haylee Graham, from his previous marriage to Susan Lavelle.
