The accident took place on the evening of Saturday, January 13, when Franks got entangled in the car wash equipment, resulting in her immediate death on the scene, as confirmed by officials. Franks was a resident of Buncombe County, North Carolina.
Franks, who had been working with Zips Car Wash for roughly five months, was not initially slated to be on duty on the day of the incident. Her grandmother, Ernestine Franks, disclosed that Carolina had stepped in for an employee who had called in sick. Ernestine, who had been caring for Carolina since she was six years old, revealed that her granddaughter had visited her in Kentucky just a few hours prior to the tragic incident.
The Weaverville Police Department in conjunction with the North Carolina Department of Labor Occupational Safety and Health (OSHA) has initiated an investigation into the accident. The specific details surrounding how Franks became trapped in the machinery and the exact cause of her death are currently being examined.
