In an event that stunned Chile, former Chilean President Sebastián Piñera, 74, lost his life in a helicopter accident in the southern part of the country.
The fatal crash took place close to the town of Lago Ranco, an idyllic spot where Piñera frequently vacationed during the summer months. Piñera was at the controls of the helicopter when it plunged into a nearby lake. Remarkably, the three other individuals on board survived the crash on February 6, 2024.
Sebastián Piñera, a skilled pilot known for his adventurous nature and passion for aviation, was piloting the helicopter when the accident occurred. The helicopter descended into a lake in the Region de Los Lagos, trapping Piñera in the wreckage.
