Man Dies After Metal Object Breaks Windshield on Highway

A tragic accident claimed the life of a 39-year-old man from Audubon, New Jersey, on Thursday, March 7. Steven Bradshaw was fatally injured when a metal object struck the windshield of the car he was a passenger in. The incident occurred in East Windsor Township, Mercer County, as confirmed by the New Jersey State Police.

New Jersey State Police’s Office of Public Information’s Sergeant Jeffrey Lebron detailed that Bradshaw was in a Toyota vehicle when a metal object hit the car’s front hood before striking the windshield. This impact led to Bradshaw’s fatal injuries. The driver of the vehicle remained unharmed.

The incident took place at approximately 1:22 p.m., on the northbound lanes of the Turnpike. State Troopers responded promptly to the scene. An active investigation is underway to determine the origin and type of the metal object involved.

Accidents of this nature, involving airborne debris, are rare on New Jersey’s roads. The primary focus of the ongoing investigation is to ascertain how the metal object ended up colliding with the car Bradshaw was traveling in.

The New Jersey State Police are urging potential witnesses or anyone with relevant information to come forward to assist in unraveling the circumstances of the accident. Both Bradshaw’s family and community are in search of answers and closure.

Bradshaw was a Managed Care Coordinator at Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield in New Jersey. An avid traveler, he had visited Ireland, Japan, Paris, and the Netherlands. His interests included gaming, the arts, and cooking. A steadfast supporter of the Irish Rugby team, Bradshaw held dual citizenship in the US and Ireland.

He is survived by his mother, Phyllis Troncone, father, Philip Bradshaw, and sisters, Candyce Bradshaw, and Kayla Bradshaw, as well as his twin sister, Kelly Burns.
