According to journalist Petronella Wyatt, Prince William has allegedly been obstructing the potential reconciliation between Prince Harry and King Charles III. Wyatt, a friend of Queen Camilla, made this claim in her column for the Daily Telegraph.

In her column, Wyatt referred to a statement by a former palace official who had worked closely with both Princes William and Harry. The official reportedly said, “There is a public misconception about William and Harry. It is William who was often the difficult one, and it is William who is preventing his father from having a proper reconciliation with Harry.”

Wyatt emphasized the significance of this issue during a time when the unity of the royal family could benefit the country. Prince Harry, now 39, and his family have been distanced from the royal family since he and his wife, Meghan Markle, resigned from their royal duties and relocated to California in 2020.

During the recent 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games in London, Prince Harry did not meet with any royal family members. The last time he saw King Charles, who is 75, was briefly in February upon hearing the news of the king’s cancer diagnosis.

A source close to Prince William and Kate Middleton told the Daily Beast that Wyatt’s claims have some merit. The source added, “Although William wouldn’t dream of telling his father what he can or can’t do in relation to his other son. Charles’ absolute priority is the unity of the monarchy, and given the extent of William’s animosity toward Harry, Charles can hardly roll out the red carpet.”

Wyatt also alleged that prior to his departure from royal life, Prince Harry was treated poorly by both his brother and father. She suggested that Prince Harry’s return to the royal family is necessary as it represents many British families, and a divided family is inherently weaker.

Contrasting claims have arisen surrounding Prince Harry’s recent UK visit. Friends of the king state that King Charles offered his son a place to stay, which Prince Harry declined. However, sources close to him insist that he had requested a meeting with his father ahead of his visit, only for King Charles to decline. Friends of the king firmly refute this claim, pointing out that the king met Prince Harry during a vulnerable time in his illness.

The strained relationship between Prince Harry and his family reportedly intensified when the prince asked the king to choose between him and Queen Camilla. A royal family insider told the Daily Beast, “Harry has expressed his dislike for her very openly and publicly. He forced Charles to choose, a decision which was misjudged as Camilla and he made their choice for each other a long time ago.”

In his memoir titled “Spare,” Prince Harry further strained relations by portraying Queen Camilla as “dangerous” and “the villain.” He also alleged that Prince William physically assaulted him during a disagreement about his wife, Meghan Markle, causing an even greater divide.

Since the publication of “Spare,” Prince Harry has yet to reconcile with any members of his family.
