Ivana Pino Arellano, a beloved country singer popularly known as “La Rancherita de Chanco,” tragically passed away in a car accident on June 15, 2024, just one day after turning 32. The accident occurred on the M-80 road near Pelluhe in the Maule Region of central Chile.
Pino Arellano, a mother of four, was driving when she reportedly lost control of her vehicle in wet conditions, hitting a concrete barrier and causing the car to flip over on the side of the road. She died at the scene, while her passenger was left seriously injured and taken to the Cauquenes hospital.
The Municipality of Chanco, where she gained a large following, issued an emotional statement on social media, calling her an “unforgettable figure whose charisma will resonate eternally in our lives.” They continued, saying, “To us, the name ‘Ivana’ will always symbolize pure happiness and joy. Thank you, Ivana, for bringing us days of light and harmony. Your departure leaves an unfillable void, but your legacy will live on, reminding us of the beauty of your spirit and the generosity of your heart.”
Pino Arellano, originally from Chile, was celebrated for her vocal talent and stage presence. She often performed traditional Mexican music known as “ranchera.” Her performances at festivals and events were highly anticipated, drawing large crowds who admired her singing ability and vibrant personality.
Local media reports indicate that Pino Arellano’s vehicle was heavily damaged, with photos showing it overturned by the side of the road. The local police are continuing their investigation to determine the precise cause of the accident.
The local council also honored Pino Arellano’s contributions to the community, highlighting her spirit of public service. “Ivana personified the spirit of public service with a passion and love, always ready to help others and find solutions even in the most difficult moments,” their statement read. They also highlighted her devotion to her family: “Her husband and children were the foundation of her life, motivating her every effort and sacrifice.”
