Renowned wrestling figure, Sid Vicious, has passed away at 63 after a prolonged battle with cancer, as confirmed by his son, Gunnar Eudy, on August 26, 2024.

Born as Sidney Raymond Eudy, Sid Vicious was a towering figure in professional wrestling with a formidable persona. He had a successful career spanning more than 30 years in major wrestling promotions including WWE and WCW.

Eudy started his wrestling career in the late 1980s under the ring name “Lord Humongous” in Continental Championship Wrestling. However, his fame skyrocketed when he adopted the name “Sid Vicious.” At a height of 6’9″ and weighing over 300 pounds, he quickly became known as one of the most intimidating and charismatic performers.

Throughout his career, he wrestled under various names such as “Sycho Sid” and “Sid Justice.” He became a two-time WWE Champion and a two-time WCW World Heavyweight Champion, accomplishments that affirmed his status as one of the most accomplished and respected wrestlers of his time. High-profile matches included headlining events like WrestleMania VIII and XI, where he competed against icons like Hulk Hogan and The Undertaker.

Despite his achievements, Sid’s career faced significant challenges. He endured a severe leg injury in 2001 during a WCW pay-per-view event, a memory that still stands clear in the minds of many fans. The injury was serious, but his determination allowed him to return to the ring in a limited role. He continued to wrestle independently until his last match in 2017.

Reflecting on his father’s legacy, Gunnar stated in a statement, “He was a man of strength, kindness, and love, and his presence will be greatly missed.” Gunnar’s words embody the profound respect and admiration that fans and family held for Sid.

Another wrestling legend, Ric Flair, shared his condolences on social media, recalling his relationship with Sid. Flair’s message underscored the intricate relationships in the wrestling industry, where professional rivalries are often balanced by personal respect and camaraderie.

WWE commended Sid in a statement, noting, “Sid was one of the most imposing and terrifying competitors of his generation with a natural charisma that immediately connected with the WWE Universe.”

Sid Vicious is survived by his wife, Sabrina Paige, and his two sons, Frank and Gunnar. As the wrestling community grieves his loss, plans for a memorial service are anticipated to be announced soon. Sid’s impact on professional wrestling will continue to inspire both current and future generations of wrestlers.
