Rap Star Takes His Own Life at 27

Lucas Coly, a French-American rapper who gained international recognition through his music and social media presence, died last week in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Clark County Coroner’s Office confirmed that the 27-year-old artist, famous for his hit track “I Just Wanna,” died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

Coly’s manager from I Discover Stars confirmed the news on October 3, 2024, revealing that the young musician had been battling mental health issues. The manager expressed his deep sense of loss in a statement. “Being your manager was one of the reasons I stayed here,” he said, describing the void left by Coly’s death.

Amber H., Coly’s girlfriend and a social media influencer, also shared her grief online. In a live stream, she admitted to being on a phone call with Coly during his last moments, trying her best to support him. “I did everything I could,” she said, fighting back tears. “He could not take the breakup, and that’s just what it is. I couldn’t do it anymore.”

Originally gaining fame on Vine, Coly’s popularity increased as he transitioned to platforms like YouTube and Instagram, amassing over 1.3 million followers. Despite his success, Coly was candid about his challenges, stating in an interview that he had always struggled academically. His primary focus was to establish a career in rap music.

Born in France, Coly moved to the United States at the age of eight. His French heritage often influenced his music, and he had expressed a desire to infuse more French elements into his work for his international audience. His long-term relationship with Amber, which he frequently shared on social media, was another aspect that defined his public persona.

The news of Coly’s death has left his fans and loved ones in shock. His social media profiles have been inundated with messages of grief and tribute. “Rest in paradise, Lucas. You’re finally at peace,” one fan wrote.

To honor the late rapper, Coly’s management company has encouraged fans to stream his music, aiming to help him posthumously reach the music charts for the first time. Coly’s personal and professional journey serves as a reminder of the importance of providing support to those facing challenging times.
