On election night, liberal commentator Joy Reid gave a shocking reaction as Donald Trump gained a victory in Florida, framing the state as a bastion for “extremely right-wing fascist” ideologies. She was speaking on MSNBC during the live broadcast of the 2024 presidential election results.

As early results indicated a substantial lead for Trump in Florida, Reid expressed unease regarding the state’s political course.

“It’s a pure Project 2025 in miniature in Florida,” Reid stated. She used this to illustrate her view of Florida’s leadership as a model for a “right-wing, fascist type government”.

Reid, an anchor for MSNBC, drew attention to Trump’s recent public declarations, notably his remarks on mass deportation and what she described as a “violent start to his dictatorship.” She questioned how such discourse could continue to attract a significant number of voters.

As Trump’s favorability in the election results increased, Reid’s apprehensions expanded beyond Florida. When Texas was declared for the Republican nominee, she brought up concerns about voter suppression, specifically citing Black voters in Houston, Texas, who she stated were “deeply suppressed.”

Contrasting media reactions to the election outcomes were evident. While Reid aired her concerns on MSNBC, Fox News commentators were celebrating Trump’s performance. Fox News, with anchor Bret Baier, was the first major network to predict Trump’s victory, describing him as the “biggest political phoenix from the ashes” in U.S. political history.

Trump supporters immediately reacted to Reid’s remarks, with some advocating for her removal from the panel.

By late Tuesday night, Trump had achieved significant wins in several critical states, including Florida, Texas, North Carolina, and Ohio, along with multiple Southern and Midwestern states. Betting markets indicated Trump’s probability of obtaining the necessary 270 electoral votes exceeded 90 percent.

By Wednesday morning, it was apparent that Trump had achieved a decisive victory, defeating Vice President Kamala Harris and reclaiming the White House in a historical political comeback that alters the landscape of American politics.

After winning Wisconsin, Trump, at the age of 78, surpassed the required 270 electoral votes, marking a notable return to power nearly four years after his departure from office. This victory makes him the 45th and 47th president of the United States, a unique distinction in American political history.

Vice President Harris gave her concession speech at Howard University in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday.

The election results revealed significant shifts in voter demographics, with Trump making modest gains among Black, Latino, and young voters compared to previous elections. Economic concerns and immigration policy surfaced as the primary factors influencing voter decisions in several battleground states.

In Midwestern states like Michigan, Trump’s economic platform resonated, particularly due to concerns about inflation and economic stability. The election results indicated a significant shift in traditional voting patterns across various regions.
